Traffic
I’m pretty sure that I’m not a fan of daytime traffic. I guess I’m not really a fan of traffic at all, but daytime traffic is distinctly different from rush hour traffic.
I came home early today because my brain hurt (migraine) and I was reminded of how different things are during the day. Who are these people? Like this guy:

A seemingly simple cretin living out wonderful needs – to drive slow!
He was driving under the speed limit during the middle of the day. Under the speed limit! Obviously there is nothing illegal with driving under the speed limit. There’s nothing illegal about checking out someone else’s wife, but it’s still rude. And while driving it’s inexcusable.
During rush hour there is an understanding, a social agreement that we will all drive as fast as possible because we have to be somewhere – usually work. There’s a lot of push and pull but we all know that if we work together we can all get to our individual goals without incident. Sure people are rude, but it’s within the confines of the rush hour rules, and it draws everyone’s ire because it screws things up for everyone. I tend to get irritated at people who get pulled over during rush hour or even those who get into accidents because they aren’t following the rules.
But drivers during the day have no agendas, no sense of urgency. Some might say that they are just taking it easy and maybe I could learn something from them. I say those guys are jerks and should get out of the frickin’ fast lane. The aforementioned “cautious” driver was tapping his breaks anytime anyone got close to him. Maybe he should only go out at night if he’s so afraid of people.
Despite leaving in the middle of the day, and there being no traffic, it still took me 30 minutes to get home.
But now that I’m at home and my wife brought me a Dairy Queen double cheeseburger and fries I’m feeling much better.
