Peanut butter and bacon has been a long-appreciated combo in my house. May not be good for the cholesterol, but PB and bacon sandwiched in an English muffin is delicious.

And its not home-brewing, but I've seen some recipes out there for bacon-infused vodkas.

Yeah, it's not the most super awesome for long posts, but for shorter ones it's pretty cool.

More importantly, even if I never use it, it's nice know it's there. Kind of like a doomsday device.

I still type like a moron on my iPhone, so I doubt I'll be using that app. Until my fingers fine-tune themselves onto the tiny keyboard, I'll be sticking to posting from my gigantor laptop. (;

Gina, I tried hard to resist playing, but the social pressure was too much. For some people it's smoking or drinking or vandalism, but for me it was Azeroth. We joke that it's the new golf since so many people play.

I've never skipped work, but I did start getting up at 5 a.m. so that I could play when no one else was awake. For anyone interested, I'm Sparkalina on Tichondrius. My daughter came up with the name for her stuffed animals and the character was supposed to be a joke, but now she's level 70 so she's not going away anytime soon.

Oh dear. You are a WoW player? The people I have known who play that game are so into the game they barely come out in the daylight (even skipping work sometimes to play 24 hours of WoW instead). It is almost cult-like. Please tell me that you are not THAT into the game. ;)

Ah ha! I've been proven wrong! I guess my circle of contacts, most of which are below 30 is too statistically small to account for the rest of the world. Whoops! :)

So do you see yourself over growing out of video games? Like when you're 70 will you still be excited about new games coming out? My grandpa has never (and probably never will) grown out of cars, so why should us gamers ever grown out of what makes us passionate?!

You said, "computers and games have always been cool." I'd go further and say that they always will be cool!

In response to:

I don’t know anyone over 40 who is a “gamer” but I think that ’s because video games didn’t exist during the formative years for anyone over 30.

You're joking right??? I'm 37 years old. I've been using computers since Apple II+ came out. (I was doing all the computer stuff like Matthew Broderick in WarGames back in the early to mid 80s) I've been "online" for over 20 years and to assume that the gaming industry has just now started to be recognized in the last 10 years is ludicrous. Or to even say that games did not exist prior to the 90's is just not right.

Like Mindy said above, it depends on what was around during your youth or what you're accustomed to. In your case, you drew a reference to your grandfather who was a gearhead. He probably did not have the "face" time on a computer as you or I. But that's the difference. I've been on a computer since I was 8 years old. I remember connecting to local bulletin boards here in St. Louis on a 110 baud modem.

Don't get me wrong... I love yesterday and today's games (actually, I don't care for games that you have to pay monthly subscriptions too...I just don't have that kinda time to justify the cost).

I would also agree that Rock Band is one of the best party activities you can do.

And, uh, computer and games have always been cool.

funny i should see this post today....as I was riding the metro the other night...an Asian Christopher Walken sat next to me. He looked scared already.....but that could have been just how he looked, ya know.

I agree with Taylor that there is an abuse potential, probably greater now than at any time in the past. Whenever a corporation or government says, "Trust us. We're not going to do anything wrong," I get very cynical and begin to recount all of human history. The only mitigating factor is that their is an unprecedented level of transparency in play. The democratizing nature of the internet means that you can instantly report things as they happen. The events surrounding Derek Onstott's atrocious behavior to a Yelp review is a good example.

In fact, I would be more afraid of THAT type of abuse - people maliciously reporting information. The democratizing nature of the internet, and especially social media, means that any yokel with a computer can speak his peace AND everyone else can read it. I can see state secrets, military plans, personal and private information, and any number of things being leaked for personal gain. Posting stuff on the internet is worse than squeezing out toothpaste - not only can you never put it back, but it regularly gets backed up and copied!
